As of 1 pm, registered voter turnout in 3 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal exceeded 50%

Voter turnout in three Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, where the first phase of elections is ongoing on Friday, was 50.96 per cent as of 1 pm, officials said.

Voting started at 7 am in Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduars seats and a total of 56.26 lakh people are eligible to vote, they said.

“The voter turnout as of 1 pm was 50.69 per cent in Cooch Behar, 50.65 per cent in Jalpaiguri and 51.58 per cent in Alipurduars,” an election official said.

All three seats have been reserved, with Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri as SC seats and Alipurduars as ST seats.

A total of 37 candidates are contesting in the three constituencies, and voting will last until 6 p.m.
