The Samajwadi Party (SP) has changed its candidate from Meerut and announced the name of sitting MP Atul Pradhan from Sardhana. The SP had earlier fielded Bhanu Pratap Singh from Meerut against Mr Govil.

After filing his nomination, Arun Govil said he would like to thank the BJP leadership for reposing faith in him and making him the candidate from Meerut.

“I feel very good. This is the beginning of a new innings. I don’t see any problem anywhere. I have become the candidate of my house. I can now work for my people. Ramji will rest and take care of everything,” he told reporters.

When asked about how much the public loves his character Lord Ram in the TV series, Govil said he “gets more love now”.

“Till now, wherever I go for PR, I seem to be getting more love. Seeing me, ‘Jai Shri Ram’ is everywhere. People want to touch my feet, people are also prostrating. ” ,” Mr Govier said.

Meanwhile, Mr Maurya said workers and people had full confidence in Mr Govil.

Replying to a question about which party the BJP sees as a rival, he said: “As far as we know, there is no one in the race.” Mr Maurya also used the opportunity to mock the opposition parties.

“There is no opposition anywhere. There is a fight between SP, BSP and Congress. Our preparations are from 2024 to 2047 (when UP assembly elections will be held),” he said.
