Are there water supply problems in some parts of Delhi? What does the JAL board of directors say?

The Delhi Water Board has refuted the claim, saying media reports that daily water supply and supply to the Delhi JAL have dropped significantly have no “factual basis”.

“Such concerns and reports have no basis and are not supported by facts or data. DJB makes it clear that there is no shortage or reduction in water supply at DJB and optimal quantities of water (from water, treatment plants and wells) are produced daily and Supply to the people of Delhi through pipeline network and adequate number of tankers in key areas,” the JAL board said.

Citing data, the agency said the average water production and supply between March 24 and April 2 was 990.18 million gallons per day (MGD), much better than the 967.46 MGD during the same period last year.

“DJB assures the people of Delhi of our continued focus on water production and supply to the people of Delhi,” the Delhi agency said in a statement, adding that it is geared up to meet the demand in the upcoming summer. .

It also said that “action has also been taken” to address the long-term problem of high ammonia levels in raw water, which sometimes affects optimal production of water, through appropriate technical intervention.

Earlier today, Delhi Water Minister Atish directed the Delhi Chief Secretary to reassess the water supply situation in the city and submit a report detailing an action plan to alleviate water shortage in designated areas, an official order said.
