Amit Shah says Modi government has built strong internal security system in 10 years

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday stressed that the Center will not compromise India’s border security and the safety of its people, adding that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has built a strong Internal security system.

The Home Minister made the remarks while delivering a speech titled “Security Beyond Tomorrow: Building India’s Resilient Future” and launched the “ORF Foreign Policy Survey” in New Delhi.

Amit Shah said in his speech that in the past 10 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has carried out comprehensive changes in the field of domestic security based on specific policies.

Shah said that for the first time in a decade after independence, successful efforts were made to ensure internal security on the basis of policy changes.

“We control terrorism with a zero-tolerance policy, protect our borders, and have made many legal reforms to create a strong legal framework. The Home Minister further said that the launch of the ‘ORF Foreign Policy Survey 2023’ shows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government have been successful in bringing difficult issues like foreign policy to the common people of the country.

In the survey, about 86% of people expressed appreciation for India’s foreign policy.

Zero tolerance policy for terrorism

Amit Shah further blamed the previous government’s appeasement policy for decades of violence and unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, left-wing extremism-affected areas and the Northeast.

Over the past 75 years, we have faced threats from terrorism, extremism, and left-wing extremism in terms of domestic security, and thousands of innocent civilians and security personnel have become victims. Since 2014, the Modi government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy and formulated a strategy to eliminate terrorism. Shah added that between 2004 and 2014, there were 33,000 violent incidents, while between 2014 and 2023, the number of violent incidents dropped by 62% to 12,466. The total number of civilian and security force deaths fell by 72%, from 11,900 to 3,276.

“We abrogated Article 370 and Article 35A, which had fueled separatism in Jammu and Kashmir for years. The people of Kashmir enjoy constitutional rights and today have over 30,000 local representatives. Apart from this, by deleting Article 370 , more than 100 national laws that do not apply to Jammu and Kashmir have been implemented for the people of Kashmir.”

Amit Shah also mentioned that in the past 9 years, we have signed 9 peace agreements in the Northeast, and more than 9,000 youths have given up their arms and integrated into the mainstream.

The Modi government is committed to resolving border, ethnic and religious disputes in the Northeast. The interior minister noted that AFSPA has been removed from more than 70% of the region.

Amit Shah also said that after the implementation of the three new criminal laws proposed by Prime Minister Modi, the trial time of any case will not exceed three years, and India’s criminal justice system will become the most modern criminal justice system in the world.
