MBBS student’s body found hanging in Delhi college hostel room

A final-year MBBS student was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the Maulana Azad Medical College hostel on Monday, police said. Information about the incident was received at 1.30 pm, following which a team reached the spot and recovered the body, they said.

“We have taken custody of the body and sent it for autopsy. No suicide note was found,” a senior police officer said.

Friends and family members of the deceased are being questioned to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide, the official said. The student’s name is not being released to respect the family’s privacy, the official added.

Police said the deceased was a 23-year-old woman who was pursuing her final year of MBBS course at the college.
