A 13-year-old girl from Basti in Uttar Pradesh showed remarkable calmness as she successfully fended off a potentially dangerous monkey attack using an unconventional method – Amazon’s virtual voice assistant Alexa.

The incident took place earlier in the day at Awas Vikas Colony in Basti when young Nikita and her 15-month-old niece found themselves confronted by a monkey intruder while they were playing on the sofa . When the monkey started rummaging through the kitchen, causing chaos while other family members were in different rooms of the house, Nikita sprang into action.

Despite her fear, Nikita spotted the Alexa device sitting on the refrigerator. She made a split-second decision and ordered Alexa to make the sound of a dog barking, hoping to scare the monkeys. To her relief, the tactic worked wonders – the loud barking caused the monkeys to run off the balcony and the girls were safe.

Heroic response to panic

Recalling this harrowing experience, Nikita shared her thoughts with the news agencyYearsaid: “A few guests came to our house but they didn’t close the door. The monkeys came into the kitchen and started throwing things everywhere. The child was scared and I was scared too, but then I saw Alexa and asked it to play Dog The sound. Because of the sound, the monkeys were frightened and ran away.”
