Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Amanatullah Khan left the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Delhi after midnight on Friday after being questioned by the agency in a money laundering case involving his deputy Related to alleged irregularities during the chairmanship of the Delhi Waqf Board.

The AAP MLA reached the ED office around 11:00 am on Thursday and was questioned by the ED for more than 12 hours. The agency asked and recorded his statement in connection with the case.

Amanatulah Khan said: “I was summoned (by the Education Department) for questioning; the Supreme Court directed me to appear before the court, so I came at 11:00 am. I was questioned and my statement was recorded , I am leaving now,” ED asked after speaking to ANI.

The AAP MLA also claimed that central agencies have been urging “him to resign and oppose Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal”.

“I want to tell the Okhla public that the central agencies have been hounding and provoking me for the past two years. They have been trying to make me resign. Earlier in the day, AAP leader and Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed that the education ministry planned to arrest Mr Khan in a “baseless” case.

Earlier, the Supreme Court on Monday (April 15) refused to grant anticipatory bail to Amanatulah Khan in connection with the money laundering case. related to alleged irregularities during Amanatulah Khan’s tenure as chairman.

However, a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta also said Mr Khan should not be arrested unless there was sufficient material against him. It warned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against unnecessary exercise of arrest powers under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Earlier, the ED had filed an application seeking an indefinite, non-bailable arrest warrant against Amanatullah Khan.
Recently, the education ministry had filed charges against four people and a company in connection with alleged money laundering by Amanat Ullah Khan when he was chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board.

The education ministry has been issuing summons to him in connection with the money laundering case of the Delhi Waqf Board. However, his anticipatory bail plea has been rejected by the trial court and the High Court.
The money laundering case against Mr Khan stems from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR and three Delhi Police complaints.

The allegations against Mr Khan relate to his time as chairman of the waqf board. He was accused of illegal recruitment and unfair leasing of Waqf property between 2018 and 2022.
