Pace star Mayank Yadav is unlikely to feature in Lucknow Supergiants’ next two games as he is still recovering from hip tightness, head coach Justin Langer said on Thursday. LSG will take on Delhi Capitals here on Friday before traveling to Kolkata for an away match on April 14. Langer and his team are hopeful that Mayank will be fully fit before the home match against Chennai Super Kings on April 19. “He has been fit to play against Chennai Super Kings on April 19. We would like him to play in every game if possible,” Langer said on the eve of the match against DC. “But he will work towards that goal Hard work; he works extremely hard every day to get ready for our next game. He won’t play tomorrow, which is unlikely…it’s unlikely he will play in these games due to the short turnaround time. But he will definitely try to play as many games as possible.” Mayank became an overnight sensation after batting at speeds of over 150 kmph on his IPL debut, but in Sunday’s match against the Gujarat Titans He walked off the course after just one pitch.

“In the last game he felt a little tightness at the top of his hip, but it was about a tenth of a percent of pain and we thought it was clinical,” Langer said.

“Everything looked good with the doctors and physical therapists. He threw the first pitch (against the Titans) and started feeling something in his hip. But we did an MRI scan and there was a very, very small swelling there. .So we are very hopeful that he will start strengthening himself and get back to bowling again soon,” the former Australia opener added.

Langer gave an update on the fitness of left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, who has missed the team’s last two matches due to injury.

“He’s bowling outside right now. He has a bit of a herniated disc in his back. He and Mayank are very important for us. He’s had all the treatment – it’s been really good to have a good medical staff. He was bowling in the middle today,” He said.

“He may be available tomorrow but chances are – and hopefully – we will be looking at the Kolkata game where the extra pace will be valuable. But he is on the right path – fingers crossed,” he added.
