American Robert Prevost was named as New Pope, known as Pope Leo XIV

The Vatican Conclave said on Thursday a new Pope, Robert Prevost – The First American Pope, Vatican News.

Cardinals collected at the Sistin Chapel in the Vatican have chosen 69 -year -old Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the 267th Pope, who named the Pope Leo XIV.

The Pope Leo XIV becomes the 267th Pontif of the Roman Catholic Church. He is the first American to lead the Catholic Church.

In his first comments in Italian, Pope Leo XIV stated that this message of peace “to enter his hearts, to reach his families and all people, wherever they are.”

While paying tribute to his predecessor Pope Francis, he urges the loyal that “go ahead, without any fear, united, hand with each other in hand and hand in hand with each other.”

The former leader of the Augustinian order also thanked fellow cardinals for selecting him for the role.
