Srinagar, May 2: A group of General Rahhar-e-Clam teachers (RRETS) allegedly discriminated against the teacher to master the school education department of Kashmir, urged the Education Minister to intervene and ensure justice.
Victim teachers appointed under the Center-proposed RRET scheme launched in 2000 during the National Conference-led government claim that despite the same dates of joining and regularization, recent promotion orders have ignored qualifications and seniority.
In a statement for Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir.com, according to teachers, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) issued order number 267-DSEK on October 17, 2023, 2023 October 2023, in which several general Rrets were promoted for the post of Master. However, the selection was reportedly based on the serial numbers instead of seniority criteria such as date of birth (DOB), resulting in the teacher “serious injustice”.
Most of the promoted people were graduated with BA or BSc degree and were 10+2 as their admission qualification during regularization. Many have received high degrees like MA, MSc, etc. during service. Nevertheless, despite meeting all the requirements, our files were sidelined, ”said one of the affected teachers.
Connecting their collapse, DSEK issued another promotional order (2024 December 6, 2024 number 305-DSEK), with 372-out of 412 applicants with private mode degrees. A subsequent order (number 26-desek of February 3, 2025 of 2025) approved additional 368 out of 372 applicants. However, many teachers with BSc degree and no pending backlog are not ignored.
The teachers questioned, “Why have our files left to collect dust in the department?
He has appealed to the Education Minister for immediate prevention, requested for timely promotion of his service records and timely promotion on the basis of eligibility and contribution in the education sector.
“A fair and transparent process will not only restore our confidence in the system, but will also promote our morale to serve with a fresh commitment,” he said. (KDC)
