During the Color Festival, a white-toothed smile appears in the snow at Annapurna Base Camp, telling the story of Swakriti Insan, a high-spirited and passionate young trekker. She climbed to the Annapurna Base Camp from Jinudada in Pokhara, Nepal, in just three days. Her descent from ABC was accomplished in one day. It’s a big milestone, but it’s only a small convoy on the road to the great hiking career she’s currently dreaming of.

Standing at an altitude of 4130m, she planned her next hike and was eager to reach Everest Base Camp. Swakriti met trekkers from Nepal, Singapore, Spain, the United States, and many other countries who told us that she was full of enthusiasm throughout the trek and leading large groups. She didn’t even take any breaks during the descent, except for a lunch stop in a bamboo forest.

This achievement is not the first for Swakriti; she ran 10 kilometers at the age of five during COVID-19. She also completed the recent 5km marathon organized by Dwarka Express Runners in Delhi, India. This provides the much-needed stamina to complete this difficult task with ease.

When asked if she would like a Barbie doll as a reward for this achievement, Swakriti said: “No, I want to continue with more challenging treks.” Such is the confidence of this young girl, It can take her to the next level in her future career. She is like a diamond in the rough, but she shines brightly with every new effort.
