Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh is the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Nemanipur. Currently, he is the state education and law minister. Mr. Singh, 59, comes from a family with deep political roots. His father Thounaojam Chaoba Singh is a federal minister.
