28-year-old US woman arrested for torturing and killing live animals on YouTube for likes

Monsey was charged with four felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

A 28-year-old woman in the United States was arrested for allegedly torturing and killing live animals on YouTube to gain more followers. According to New York Post, Aniger Monsey of Pennsylvania, admitted to torturing and mutilating live animals. He was charged over four livestream videos posted on his channel last week that allegedly showed him mutilating live chicken, pigeons, rabbits and frogs. He reportedly solicited more lives from his 20,000 subscribers and followers while hacking animals in various live videos.

“It’s absolutely barbaric. It’s inhumane that someone could do that,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt. Post, “The fact that you’re soliciting and people are encouraging it” is even more disturbing, he said.

According to abc7Monsey’s latest video titled “Cooking Lucky” shows him using a knife to cut the neck of a chicken over the kitchen sink as the distressed animal tried to escape. He posted the video last Friday, just before his arrest.

“Throughout the video, she’s soliciting more likes and more viewers. And once she gets to the point where she’s satisfied with the number of viewers, she continues to do so — over the course of 10 minutes — causing harm and ultimately Proceeds to kill it. Chicken,” Mr. Bernhardt said.

Other clips allegedly show the 28-year-old man dismembering several frogs and plucking the wing of a live pigeon, first placing the bird head in boiling water and then cutting it open. In another video, Monsey is also accused of using a “knife” to stab a rabbit to death.

The 28-year-old man has been charged with four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. Police said the investigation began with an email tip from animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). “I want to thank PETA and commend them for gathering the information and forwarding it to us,” Mr. Bernhardt said.

Investigators are still working to see if anyone else was involved in the production of these videos. Meanwhile, Monsey remains behind bars on $200,000 bail.

“The best thing we can do is honor them by making sure this kind of behavior doesn’t continue and that more animals aren’t subjected to it,” said PETA’s Kristen Rickman.
