Whoopi Goldberg hits out at media for coverage of student protests

Whoopi Goldberg recently spoke out in favor of students protesting at colleges across the United States in support of Palestine.

Talking about the ongoing protests in the latest episode SceneWhoopi criticized the media, saying, “Since I haven’t said anything, I’m sorry, I have to.”

He added, “One of the greatest rights we have as an American is to stand up and say something is wrong.”

Whoopi explained, “So, you see the same posters or you see the same people, but you don’t see the people who are doing peaceful things and saying, ‘This is what we want to do.'”

Earlier in the show, Whoopi addressed her panel, saying, “Let’s be very clear about this, no one supports anti-Semitic hate speech, and students are fearing for their safety, but should they feel threatened by violence?” Have the right to protest peacefully?

He argued, “‘Isn’t that part of being an American, and standing up when you see something wrong?’

For those unaware, over 700 arrests were made by police to disperse the protests, which spread to at least 76 universities across the US last week and are counting.

Meanwhile, Whoopi wasn’t the only one on the panel who spoke on the topic, as Sunny Hostin said, “In my view, I think we need to shift the framing back to these college protests.”
