Leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki will soon launch updated versions of Swift and Desire in India. Last year, Swift already made a splash at the Tokyo Mobile Show, while Desire was a belated arrival. Now, it’s been discovered for the first time during testing.

According to reports, an updated or next-generation Desire may be available in the first half of 2024. However, the company has not yet commented on the details.

Anticipated updates

According to spy shots, the upcoming Dzire may share some design elements from the fourth-generation Swift. It will bring some noticeable cosmetic changes, making it look more premium and attractive than ever.

Despite being covered in heavy camouflage, the upcoming Desire has received some cosmetic upgrades. It is expected to get a revised grille and revised headlight setup, paired with fog lamps at the bottom.

Update before and after

Judging from the leaked images, the car may come with a revised bonnet, making the vehicle more muscular this time around. At the back, it can show off a bold and stylish taillights and updated tailgate design.

Engine and power

Under the hood, the upcoming Desire will continue to share the same engine options as the Swift. It will be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.2L 3-cylinder Z-series gasoline engine with a maximum power of 82 horsepower and a peak torque of 108 Nm.

In terms of mileage, this powertrain setup is expected to deliver an impressive fuel efficiency of 24.5 km/l.
