The Election Commission will announce the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls this afternoon. The pollster posted on X that the dates for the general election and some state assembly elections will be announced at 3pm today.

The term of the current Lok Sabha will end on June 16, before which a new House of Representatives must be formed. The terms of the Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha assemblies will also end in June.

Nearly 970 million people are eligible to vote in the upcoming polls.
