Washington:
A shooting at a block party in Memphis on Saturday left two people dead and six others injured, local police said.
Two people were found dead at the scene and one of the six injured was in “critical condition” at an area hospital, the Memphis Police Department wrote on social media platform X.

Gun violence is common in the United States, a country with more guns than people. Attempts to suppress gun rights have always met with strong political resistance.
The United States has recorded 120 mass shootings this year, according to the NGO Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as four or more people injured or killed.
At the end of last year, there were 656 such shootings.
