Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are looking to end their Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy drought after a nightmare start to the season so far. RCB, one of the few teams yet to win the IPL, suffered its third defeat in four games on Tuesday against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Chasing 182 runs, RCB were bowled out for 153 in 19.4 overs. Apart from Virat Kohli, no other batsman has done well for himself. Overseas stars such as captain Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green have so far failed to establish themselves in the tournament.

Just like in previous seasons, the bowling has been a disaster so far with bowlers leaking runs.

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Ambati Rayudu explains why RCB has never won the IPL. Rayudu said there was a lack of consistency among the teams in both departments.

“I feel their bowling is always above par and their batting is below par. Didn’t see big name batsmen bowling under pressure from RCB. Such a team never wins. That’s why They haven’t won an IPL year in so many years,” Rayudu responded to Star Sports’ query as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Rayudu did not hesitate to lash out at the senior players in the dressing room.

“All the young players continue to bat lower down the order and the big players go on top and leave after eating the custard. If you see, who are the batsmen who bat under pressure – your young Indian batsmen and Dinesh Karthik. Your “big international players who need to take the pressure, where are they?” They’re all in the locker room. That doesn’t happen today. That’s been the story of this team for the past 16 years,” he added.

RCB were bowled out for 153 runs and suffered their third loss in four games this season. LSG won their second consecutive game after losing their first game.

RCB is currently ninth in the standings, while LSG occupies the final spot in the playoffs.
