When Adolf Hitler was arrested by John F. Kennedy in Meghalaya

In 2008, then-NCP candidate Adolf Hitler was arrested by Police Inspector General John F. Kennedy

New Delhi:

During the 2008 Meghalaya Assembly elections, newspaper headlines read “Adolf Lew Hitler Arrested by John F. Kennedy,” sparking interest across the country given the historical significance of the names.

As it happened, Adolf Hitler, then candidate of the National Congress Party, was arrested by Police Chief John F. Kennedy while campaigning for parliamentary elections.

The next day, newspapers ran the headline “Adolf Lew Hitler Arrested by John F. Kennedy.” These headlines quickly became the talk of the town, and if social media was as important as it is today, they would have gone viral.

Adolf Hitler later won the election from the seat he contested in Meghalaya.

The Election Commission shared the anecdote in a post on X as the country prepares for this year’s Lok Sabha polls.

Last year, Adolf Hitler joined the Trinamool Congress.
