WhatsApp has recently introduced several features in the app to provide more convenience to users. According to a report by Android Authority, WhatsApp is currently working on five new features that are expected to be rolled out in the coming months. Speculated features include group events, default media upload quality settings, fast forwarding and rewinding videos, a status update editor, and privacy features for avatars. 1. Group Events: Just like we schedule meetings on Google Calendar, WhatsApp is rumored to allow users to create events through voice and video calls. Scheduled events will enable users to create event links through which group members can join the call. With group events, users can create events by adding a title, description, date, location, and more.
2. Media upload quality: With an upcoming update, WhatsApp may allow users to set default media upload quality. This will allow users to send HD quality images and videos. WABetaInfo discovered this new feature as it was made available to beta testers.
3. Avatar privacy feature: To improve user security and privacy, WhatsApp may allow users to control who can use their avatar as stickers. WhatsApp users can choose from My Contacts, Selected Contacts, and No One.
4. Fast forward and rewind videos: This feature has begun rolling out to iOS users, allowing users to fast forward and rewind by simply double-tapping the smartphone screen. Additionally, by long pressing the camera icon, users can quickly record a video and send it to the chat room.
5. Status update editor: WhatsApp may include a new status editor that users can choose whether to use for composing text, videos, and photos.
