What is NHAI’s ‘One Vehicle, One Fastag’ initiative? How to update KYC online and offline

All vehicle owners are now required to update the KYC linked to their FASTags. If they fail to update their details, their FASTag will be deactivated after January 31.

Fastag without KYC verification will be blacklisted by banks after January 31.

Almost a decade after its launch in 2014, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the ‘One Vehicle, One Fastag’ initiative. Its objective is to ensure that no vehicle uses multiple Fastags.

This initiative will also ensure that owners of multiple vehicles do not use the same FASTag, thereby making the electronic toll collection system work efficiently. “Fastag is sometimes deliberately not affixed to the windscreen of the vehicle, resulting in unnecessary delays at toll plazas and inconvenience to fellow national highway users,” NHAI said on Monday.

“With a penetration rate of nearly 98 per cent and over 8 crore users, FASTag has revolutionized the electronic toll collection system in the country,” it said. All vehicle owners are now required to update the KYC linked to their FASTags. If they fail to update their details, their FASTag will be deactivated after January 31, even if there is sufficient balance.
