Watch Julian Assange live at the High Court to find out if the appeal can go ahead

Watch live outside London’s High Court on Tuesday, March 26, as the court is expected to rule on whether Julian Assange can appeal his extradition from the UK to the US.

The WikiLeaks founder faces extradition on suspicion of conspiring to obtain and disclose defense information following the release of hundreds of thousands of leaked documents related to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In a January 2021 ruling, then-District Judge Vanessa Baraitser said Mr Assange should not be sent to the United States on the grounds that Assange’s presence was real and “unbearable” ” risk of suicide, while ruling against him on all other issues.

But later that year, U.S. authorities won a high court bid to overturn the ban, paving the way for his extradition.

During a two-day hearing in February, the 52-year-old’s lawyers asked for permission to challenge the original judge’s decision to dismiss other parts of his case in an effort to block extradition.

Ms Victoria Sharp and Judge Johnson will make their decision in writing on Tuesday.
