Last updated: February 10, 2024 11:48 UTC

Curfew has been lifted in outlying areas of this violence-hit Uttarakhand town, but it remains in effect in Bambolpura district, which on Thursday witnessed rioters setting fire to demolishing an illegally constructed madrasa and incidents of vandalism.

Shops on the outskirts of town were open on Saturday, but schools remained closed.

“Patrol patrols are ongoing in the affected areas and the situation is under control,” said AP Ans human, deputy commissioner of police, law and order, who was camping in Haldwani.
