Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan was reprimanded and fined 10 per cent of his match fee for violating the IPL code of conduct during the match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

“Kishan has committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He has admitted the offense and accepted the sanction of the match referee,” an IPL statement said.

“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.” Article 2.2 includes any action taken in the course of normal cricket activities, such as hitting or kicking wickets and any action which results in intentional (i.e. knowingly), recklessly or negligently (in any case even if accidental) damage Advertisement boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings.

This also includes misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match, even though the IPL organizers did not clarify Kishan’s offence.
