A Southern California town council member has resigned amid public outcry over a video that surfaced online. The video allegedly shows Chris Kilpatrick urinating in front of an LGBT nightclub in Los Angeles before getting into a physical altercation with the club’s manager, according to reports. The video shared by Precinct, a popular nightlife spot in downtown Los Angeles, shows two men urinating at the club’s employee entrance early Sunday morning. The men were then seen leaving the bar with glasses filled with cocktails. News report.

A manager confronted the men about the stolen drinks, according to the precinct’s social media posts. The post said one of the men, later identified as Kilpatrick, attacked the manager and threw him to the ground.

The precinct highlighted their role as a safe space for the LGBT community and condemned the actions The man in the video.

“Last Saturday night, these two party boys decided to show everyone what not to do in the precinct,” the club said. “The precinct is a safe space for everyone; let’s have fun.”

Kilpatrick’s attorneys offered a different perspective on the events. He claimed Kilpatrick and his companion acted in self-defence after being “violently grabbed” by club staff. The attorney argued that Kilpatrick acted appropriately and that urinating in public was a minor offense.

Despite his attorney’s claims, Kilpatrick resigned from his position on the Crescenta Valley Town Council the day before a hearing was scheduled to determine his fate. The committee has previously said Kilpatrick would be removed from office if the charges were proven.
