Google I/O 2024 is coming to May 14: Here’s what you can expect

By | Published | No Comments

Google will host its next I/O developer conference on May 14th. The company is following its tradition of releasing “Breaking the Cycle Puzzle” ahead of announcing the date for its annual developer-focused conference. This will be an in-person event and will be broadcast live on all official Google channels. The annual event is expected to focus on Google’s latest advances in artificial intelligence. The event is likely to reveal new features coming to Android 15, Chrome, and other Google services like Gmail, Google Photos, and more. Some new hardware is expected to be showcased, including the Google Pixel 8a.

The tech giant revealed the date of this year’s I/O conference through dedicated personnel event website Thursday (March 14). The live event will be held on May 14 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, a regular venue for I/O conferences. As usual, Google is expected to livestream the keynote via its I/O website and its YouTube channel. Developer meetings may be limited to attendees. Similar to previous years, developers can register for the event for free and receive updates on the schedule and content via email.

In addition to developer-focused discussions on app and product development, Google’s annual event is expected to reveal its next steps in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, including possible announcements about Android XR and Gemini. We’ll likely learn about new features for Chrome, Android 15, and other Google products.

Google has been showing off the Pixel 7a at events for at least a year. According to this, the company is expected to showcase the upcoming Pixel 8a smartphone at the May 14 event. It is said to feature a 6.1-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and run on Google’s Tensor G3 SoC and 8GB of RAM. It is expected to be more expensive than its predecessor.

The Pixel Fold, Google’s first foldable phone, was also launched at last year’s I/O conference. Therefore, we can also expect potential teasers for the Pixel Fold 2 and Pixel 9 series this time around.

At Google I/O 2023, the search giant repeatedly told us it cares about artificial intelligence, launching its first foldable phone and Pixel-branded tablet. This year, the company will use artificial intelligence technology to enhance its apps, services and Android operating system.
