Use of force will make Israel 'regret its actions': Iran at UN

The Iranian minister said its actions were “limited and proportionate.”

United Nations:

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian warned on Thursday that Tehran would make Israel “regret” any attacks against Iran, in response to weekend missile and drone attacks by the Islamic Republic.

Tehran launched its first direct attack on Israel over the weekend, following a deadly attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus that was widely blamed on Israel. Almost all shells were intercepted before reaching their target.

“Iran’s legitimate defense and countermeasures have ended. Therefore, the Israeli terrorist regime must be forced to cease any further military adventurism that harms our interests,” the minister told the U.N. Security Council at a meeting on the Middle East.

“If the Israeli regime uses force and violates our sovereignty, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to uphold its inherent rights and respond decisively and appropriately to make the regime regret its actions.” “

Israeli officials have not said when or where they will retaliate, but the country’s military chief has vowed to respond.

Amir-Abdullahian called Iran’s actions “limited and proportionate,” adding that until recently, Tehran had shown “considerable restraint.”
