US says it's seeking information on reporting on Al Jazeera journalist detained in Gaza

Vedant Patel said the United States was aware of reports that an Al Jazeera reporter had been detained.

Washington:

The United States is aware of reports that an Al Jazeera reporter was detained by the Israel Defense Forces, State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel told a news conference on Monday, adding that Washington had sought information from Israel about the incident.

Qatar’s Al Jazeera accused Israeli forces of “attacking” its journalist Ismail al-Ghoul while he was working in Gaza and said his equipment was also destroyed.

The IDF could not immediately be reached for comment.
