Police say suspects will be arrested soon
New Delhi:
An 18-year-old girl committed suicide in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday after she was allegedly molested by two men.
Her family said she set herself on fire hours after being harassed by two men from the Husaigunj community on Saturday morning. They also claimed the two men molested her on a daily basis.
“She was harassed on her way to her residence. Distraught by the incident, she set herself on fire at home. Before she breathed her last, she told her mother the names of the two men who harassed her,” the family told reporter.
Police confirmed that the girl died after setting herself on fire.
“The family has accused the neighbor of molesting her. A forensic team has been called and investigation is on. The accused will be arrested soon,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Shankar Mishra said.

The victim’s family requested that her autopsy not be performed until the defendant is arrested.
