The principal of a government primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing female students and showing them “indecent videos” on his mobile phone, police said on Tuesday.

Principal Pratap Singh was arrested on Monday and sent to jail, they said.

According to the police complainant, Singh inappropriately touched female students at the school.

The complainant stated that the girls, all aged between 9 and 12 years old, no longer went to school.

They also played “pornographic movies” on the phone and threatened that he would fail their exams and ban them from school if they talked about them at home, the indictment said.

Rural police superintendent Rohit Mishra said a case has been registered at the Aniya police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He said the accused had been arrested and sent to jail.
