UP minister assaulted at wedding, attackers asked, 'What did you do?'

UP minister Sanjay Nishad beaten up at a wedding last night

Sant Kabir Nagar (UP):

Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad was allegedly attacked by some people when he went to attend a wedding in a village under Khalilabad Kotwali police station area, police said today. In this matter, the minister’s personal secretary Vinod Kumar had filed a complaint.

The incident took place in Mohammadpur Kathar village late on Sunday night, where a group of people asked Mr Nishad questions about his work and the absence of his MP son from the constituency.

Mr Nishad was taken to a local hospital with a bleeding nose as a result of the altercation.

“I lead the Nishad community. Wherever my workers are, I make sure to attend their weddings. It was the wedding of my worker in Mohammadpur Kathar village on Sunday,” Mr Nishad told the media in Sant Kabir Nagar.

“While I was waiting for the Jaymala ceremony, some people from behind started making derogatory remarks about my MP son Praveen Nishad and the Nishad party. I thought they might be from our community and I explained things to them. We brought those people forward and asked them to talk to the MP when he came, he asked me, ‘You are a minister, what have you done?’

The minister alleged that when he asked them to behave, they attacked him.

“My glasses broke, and my nose got hurt… They were Yadavs. I won’t take names. There were around 20-25 people there. Ever since I came here, people have been trying to instigate caste conflict,” Mr. Nishad said.

Police jurisdictional officer Brijesh Singh said that Mr Nishad was bleeding from his nose and was taken to the hospital where he was given first aid.

Mr Nishad, who is president of the Nishad Party, a constituent of the ruling NDA, sat on a strike at the hospital along with his party workers.

They ended their protest only after Superintendent of Police Satyajit Gupta met them in the hospital and assured them of action.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya attacked Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav in a post on Twitter, saying “hooliganism will not be tolerated in the state”. “SP Bahadur Akhilesh Yadav, your party’s goons have carried out a deadly attack on Nishad Party Chief Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad. Strict action will be taken against the attackers and hooliganism will not be allowed to return at all in UP. On June 4, more than 400 ,” he wrote.

Sanjay Nishad’s son Praveen Nishad is the Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Sant Kabir Nagar and has been fielded again by the ruling party.

Praveen Nishad claimed that the attack on his father reflected the opposition parties’ frustration and fear of defeat in the general elections.

Praveen Nishad told reporters, “The minister has been attacked by some goons. This is a conspiracy by the opposition. The opposition is nervous due to the increasing popularity of the BJP. The police have been instructed to take action against those involved in the incident.” ” ,

The CO said that the police have registered an FIR against six people of the village under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (intentionally causing hurt) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Four of them — Raghavendra Yadav, Jai Prakash Yadav, Digvijay Yadav and Abhishek Yadav — have been detained, he said.

The SP said that the police is investigating the matter and law and order is under control.
