A 19-year-old brother has been arrested for allegedly raping his minor sister and strangling her to death in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. The accused, Sanju Kumar, watched porn on his mobile phone on the night of February 3 and then raped his 17-year-old sister.

He strangled his sister to death out of fear that she would tell her family about his crimes, news agencies reported Ians As the police said.

After his arrest, the suspect revealed details of his crime during police interrogation.

Patiali Kotwali in-charge inspector Govind Ballabh Sharma said the girl’s uncle lodged a complaint against Kumar on February 4.

“The police have since been searching for the accused. The accused was arrested by the police on Monday night,” the officer said. He added that Sanju’s father died a year ago and he lived with his mother and sister in another house in the village.

“On the day of the incident, his mother went to his uncle’s house where he and his sister were the only ones at home. He watched porn on his mobile phone and then raped her,” the police officer said.

Police have recovered a mobile phone from the accused along with the pornographic clips he watched on it. The defendant has been sent to jail.

In an unrelated incident, police arrested a man in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai town for allegedly raping his 15-year-old niece, who later became pregnant, an official said. The 34-year-old accused hails from Nirul in Navi Mumbai and is the girl’s uncle.

Officials from Nerul police station said he allegedly raped the girl on October 4, 2023, at his house. The girl later complained of some health problems and was admitted to a hospital in neighboring Govandi area of ​​Mumbai, where she was found to be pregnant, he said.

The hospital authorities reported the matter to the Nirul police, following which the accused was arrested on Sunday and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, the official said.
