UK teen dies by suicide after bullies share fake nude photos at school

Some of his friends and classmates blame the school for not taking any action against the boys.

A schoolgirl in Britain committed suicide after boys posted fake nude photos of her on Snapchat. According to MetroMia Janin, 14, was allegedly harassed online and in person by a group of boys while attending the Jewish Free School (JFS) in Kenton, north London. She was found dead at her family home in Harrow on 12 March 2021.

Recently, Barnet Coroner’s Court heard statements from her classmates about how she had been bullied online. In a statement, a student said the boys photoshopped the girls’ faces onto ‘the bodies of pornography artists’ and shared it on a Snapchat group chat.

Another revealed, “They took screenshots of girls’ faces on social media and made fun of them. They shared Mia’s TikTok video and made fun of her.” The students also said that the group of boys still bullies other students.

Some of his friends and classmates blame the school for not taking any action against the boys.

“JFS probably knew about Mia’s bullying. Couldn’t they see anything? One of his friends asked, “How did he forget the bullying that was happening right in front of him?” However, the school has denied any knowledge of the bullying or the difficulties it has caused the teenage student.

Rabbi Howard Cohen, former deputy head teacher of JFS, told the inquest that following Mia’s death, there was “some discussion around the school”, which he described as sharing photos of girls as a “boys-only group”. Was described in. But there was no reason to believe groups related to Mia, Mr. Cohen said.

He told the inquiry that he held a meeting with members of one of the group chats, who agreed to close the group.

After her body was found, police officers also found several notes in her diary, in which she talked about “hating myself because of my physical appearance”.
