A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder A young child died in a “hazardous materials incident”,
A one-year-old girl died in the hospital after treatment on Tuesday.
The Metropolitan Police said it was initially believed she had been exposed to chemicals at a flat in Newham, east London.
The force said the two arrested men were not known to the one-year-old child.
A 41-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested on Wednesday and both are in police custody.

“London Fire Brigade called police to Barking Road, Upton Park, at around 1.20pm on Tuesday following reports of hazardous chemicals in a residential property,” police said in a statement.
“Two adults and another child, aged six, were treated in hospital. Their injuries were confirmed not to be life-threatening or life-changing.”
The family of the deceased girl is being provided assistance by specialist officers, the statement said.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.”
It is understood that this incident is not believed to be related to terrorism.
