Traffic advisors continued for Jammu-Srinagar highway and major routes amid Amarnath Yatra

Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police on Sunday issued a detailed advice for the movement of vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other major roads in the union area, which is effective for July 14, 2025.

Advisor comes amidst the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra and challenging the road situation with important parts.

NH-44: Slow movement due to breakdown and road narrow

Traffic authorities reported a slower vehicles from 1600 pm to 1600 pm on July 12, due to the breakdown of four heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) on July 13, as well as between single-lane operation in Nashari-dalwas and Marog and Kishtwari Pathar. Passengers have been urged to be vigilant and expect delay.

Photo ID compulsory after cut-off timing

Residents of Rarey, Katra, Udampur, Patnitop, Doda and Ramban are advised to carry a valid photo identity to facilitate their movement after cut-off timing nominated from Jammu/Udampur.

Travel time and security advisor

Passengers/LMV operators are advised to travel only during the day, especially on the Ramban-Banihal Stretch, where there is a high risk of shooting stones.

The carrier or livestock transporting goods carrier should follow the issued advice and ensure timely loading due to single-lane traffic and road damage in many classes.

Fruit growers from the valley and load carrier are required to park their vehicles before 9:00 am at the points specified between the Navy Tunnel and Levadura.

All HMV operators are urged to avoid overloading, take enough fuel, and check the vehicle fitness before traveling. Only 6- and 10-layer HMV will be allowed through Dhar Road.

Traffic plan for July 14, 2025

Subject to proper weather and road conditions:

Sanji convoy, LMV and private vehicles will be allowed from both directions on NH -44.

After coordination between traffic control units (TCUS) in Jammu, Srinagar and Ramban, HMV will be allowed only on alternative days.

Cut-off timing for LMVS/passenger vehicles

Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 0600 pm – 1200 pm

Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 0700 pm – 1300 pm

Kajigund to Jammu: 1130 am – 1400 pm

Vehicles will not be allowed to travel before or after the prescribed cut-off timing.

HMV movement and optional route advisor

HMVS will be allowed after evaluation of traffic status after Srinagar to Srinagar, but not after 1900.

Return Traffic: Fuel -carrying tankers (petrol, diesel, LPG), FCI empty trucks, and HMV 10 tires will have to return through the instructions of Kashmir per divisional commissioner through Magal Road.

Updates on other routes:

Institute-Sythan-Esthanag (NH-244): Opened to LMVS and HPSV from both directions was subjected to weather and NHIDCL clearance. No other HMV is allowed.

SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari): Permission for regulated one-way movement:

Minamarg to Srinagar: 0500 pm – 1000 pm

From Sonamarg to Kargil: 1130 am – 1730 pm

The SF convoy should not disrupt the travel convoy.

Mughal Road: Open for LMV and private vehicles from both sides. HMVs (up to 10 tires) were allowed only between Shopian to Poonch between 0700 pm – 1800 pm.
