Police said on Sunday that three Naxalites, including two women, have surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. He told that there was a reward of one lakh rupees on one of these women.

The Maoists surrendered before police and CRPF 50th battalion officials here on Saturday evening, citing disappointment with the “inhuman and hollow” Naxalite ideology, a senior police officer said.

He said that those who surrendered have been identified as Dudhi Sukdi (53), Dudhi Deve (38) and Madvi Hadma (26).

Deve, who was active as the chief of Tumalpad Krantikari Mahila Adivasi Sangathan (a front wing of Naxalites), had a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on her head, the officer said.

All three cadres, he said, told the police that they were “impressed” by the district police’s Naxal rehabilitation campaign, called ‘Puna Narkom’ (a word coined in the local Gondi dialect meaning new dawn, new beginning) .

They will be provided facilities as per the surrender and rehabilitation policy of Chhattisgarh government. Officials had earlier said that 384 Naxalites had surrendered before police in the state last year. Sukma is one of the seven districts in the Naxal-affected Bastar region of the state.
