Thief caught by his unique sideburns

A burglar who was caught with his unique sideburns has been jailed for his crimes.

Dean Whyte, 52, tried to cover his face with a scarf as he approached two homes in Worksop last September.

However, analysis of surveillance footage showed White’s unruly sideburns and prominent cheekbones were clearly visible.

Comparison with White’s custody image revealed a clear match to the brief side profile captured during the crime.

White appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday (March 25) and admitted one count of burglary and one count of attempted break and enter.

White was jailed for a total of four and a half years.
