At least 11 people, including nine bus passengers, were killed by unknown militants in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province, authorities said on Saturday.
In the first incident, armed men stopped a bus on a highway in Noshki district on Friday and abducted nine men at gunpoint, police said.
“The bodies of the nine men were later found with gunshot wounds near a bridge in nearby mountains,” an official said.
He added: “The bus was traveling from Quetta to Taftan when it was suddenly intercepted by armed men. After identifying the passengers, the nine men were taken to the mountains.”
In a separate incident, a car was shot at on the same highway, killing two passengers and injuring two others.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said the terrorists involved in the killing of 11 people on Noshki Highway will not be forgiven and will be hunted down soon.
Bugti said the terrorists involved in the attack would be hunted down, adding that their aim was to disrupt peace in Balochistan.
Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the incident and said the government stood with the family of the deceased at this time.
“Such a tragic incident cannot be allowed to happen…” he added.
No banned group has claimed responsibility for the killings, but the province has seen a surge in terror attacks by banned groups and terrorists in recent weeks this year, with security forces and facilities also being openly targeted.
The banned Balochistan Liberation Army claimed it had carried out three major terror attacks in recent weeks in the province’s Mach town, Gwadar port and a naval base in Turbat, in which security forces killed about 17 militants molecular.
