Telangana: Girl found hanging in hostel room after college party, parents accuse foul play

A student was found hanging in his hostel room in Suryapet, Telangana, on Saturday night, hours after attending a college farewell party.

When the farewell party was held on the university campus, the girl took an extreme step after returning to her dormitory. She made a video call to her mother before her death and shared details of the party, the publication reported.

The woman’s parents claimed that they later received a call from the school authorities informing them that their daughter was unwell and was rushed to the hospital.

The girl’s family has accused school authorities of wrongdoing and said staff left the hospital even before the parents arrived. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case on the matter and started detailed investigation.

In another similar incident, a college student from Kendrapada in Odisha allegedly committed suicide before his 18th birthday.

The girl, a second-year MSc (Mathematics) student, was found hanging in her hostel room at Central University of Odisha (CUO), According to the Times of India.

Earlier, two Dalit girls died in suspected suicide after being scolded by a teacher in a hostel set up by the Telangana government for castes. The victim left a suicide note blaming false accusations and being unable to cope.

District education officer Narayan Reddy said students had lodged complaints against the girls.
