The Danish navy said on Thursday that a missile could be launched at any time due to a technical error. This forced Danish authorities to close an airspace and warn ships of the possibility of unexpected attacks, according to a report. CNN Report. The Danish Armed Forces said a Harpoon missile aboard the HDMS Niels Juel frigate suffered a technical error during mandatory testing. The warship is stationed in Denmark’s Great Belt, the main maritime gateway to the Baltic Sea.

The Danish Armed Forces said in a statement that the ship’s missile’s boosters were activated and could not be switched off, adding that experts were rushing to the scene to prevent any untoward incidents.

“It is possible that the missile was launched and flew several kilometers away before the booster failed,” the statement said.

The military also said that the missile was launched, but only the booster rocket was activated, so there was no danger that the rocket would not be able to lift it into the air and reach the father.

Any unintentional launch could send debris into Danish waters, prompting authorities to temporarily close a major shipping lane.Reopening in six hours on Thursday British Broadcasting Corporation said in a report.

A naval exercise began in the region last month and will end today.

It is estimated that the dangerous area is 5-7 kilometers away from the Kosol Naval Base and about 1,000 meters above sea level.

The armed forces said the missile was not aimed in the direction of the Great Belt Bridge.

The BBC further quoted the Danish Ministry of Defense as saying that the missile contained 150 kilograms of explosives. The missile is unarmed and will not explode if it falls into the sea.
