Tamil Nadu man and son killed after speeding bus hit bike from behind, caught on camera

A 32-year-old man and his three-year-old son were killed when a bus hit their bicycles and ran them over in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu state. The incident took place on Friday (February 9) at Mettupalayam Road in the city when the victim, Ashok Kumar, along with his wife Susheela (30) and son Sharvanth, were heading to the Periyanaickenpalayam area.

CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media, showing the moment a speeding private bus hit Kumar’s two-wheeler from behind.

According to police, the bus was traveling from Coimbatore to Mettupalayan. When Kumar swerved the vehicle from the right side of the road to the left, it hit the bike.

“Kumar and Shahvanth fell on the road and were crushed to death by the wheels of the bus. They died on the spot. Susela, who was thrown off the bus, was seriously injured. She was taken to a home, police said, according to the Times of India private hospital.

According to reports, Kumar was a water pump operator in Cudalur city.

After hitting the bike, the bus driver parked the vehicle on the main road and ran away with the bus conductor.

Other motorists blocked the road for several hours after the incident, demanding strict action against the bus driver. They calmed down after the police intervened and assured them that appropriate action would be taken against the accused bus driver.

At the same time, the police have also opened a case against the bus driver and started investigating the case.
