Actor Daniel Balaji, who mainly appeared in Tamil films, died of a heart attack at a private hospital in Chennai last night. The actor was reportedly admitted to the hospital yesterday after complaining of chest pains.

The 48-year-old actor’s sudden death shocked the Tamil film industry and his fans.

Shortly after the news broke about Mr Balaji, tributes began pouring in on social media.

Daniel Balaji started his career as unit production manager on Kamal Haasan’s unfinished Marudhunayagam. He then acted in Radikaa Sarathkumar’s Chithhi, where his character was named Daniel, which earned him the online moniker Daniel Balaji .
