A 17-year-old JEE aspirant, who went missing from his hostel in Kota, Rajasthan on February 13, has been found in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh after 11 days of intensive search efforts.

Piyush, a resident of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, was living in a hostel in Indra Vihar, Kota for the last two years to prepare for the IIT-JEE exam. His disappearance sparked concern among family members and authorities, prompting a rapid response to locate the missing student.

According to senior police officer Amrita Duhan, search operations were carried out at different locations, with teams following clues and gathering information about the student’s whereabouts. The breakthrough came when the police got intelligence about Piyush’s presence in Dehradun. Eventually, teams were sent to both Dehradun and Haridwar to trace the missing student.

Police tracked Piyush to Dharamshala where he was taken into custody. Local law enforcement cooperated with Kota police. The family members of the missing student also came along with the police team.

According to the police, at present Piyush’s mental condition is said to be unstable and he is hesitant in giving any information. The police intend to bring him back to Kota, where he will be counseled and subsequent interrogation will shed light on the circumstances that took him from Kota to Dharamshala.

Piyush’s father Maheshchand Kapasia had said that the last contact with his son was on the morning of February 13 when he spoke to his mother.

After this, Piyush stopped answering his family’s calls and switched off his phone. Concerned about his health, his family reported him missing.

The family’s worries increased when they learned that Piyush had not returned to his hostel room after giving exams. After this his family went to Kota, where they lodged a missing report at Jawahar Nagar Police Station.

In Kota, the family learns that Piyush had recently appeared for the JEE-Main exam and had scored only 13 percent. The family told that the girl had been preparing diligently for IIT-JEE for the last two years.

CCTV footage from Kota railway station shows Piyush carrying a bag, which was his last seen before he went missing.
