Stock market news: Sensex, sharp fall ahead of opening

Stock market dynamics: Indian indices opened lower on January 31, with the Nifty below 21,500 points and the Sensex around 70,900 points.

Benchmark equity indices fell on Tuesday after recording sharp gains, with the BSE Sensex falling over 1%.

The 30-stock BSE Sensex index fell 801.67 points, or 1.11%, to close at 71,139.90 points.

On the same day, the Sensex index plummeted 865.85 points, or 1.20%, to 71,075.72 points.

The Nifty index fell 215.50 points, or 0.99%, to 21,522.10 points.
