Stock Market Holiday Update: Is the trading session open today, Monday, January 22?

Stock exchanges NSE and BSE will observe a trading holiday on Monday, January 22, after the Maharashtra government has declared a holiday in connection with the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Ram Mandir Ayodhya Pran Pratistha holiday

Maharashtra government has declared 22 January as a public holiday. Therefore, there will be no transactions and settlements in government securities (primary and secondary), foreign exchange, money market and rupee interest rate derivatives on that day, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a fresh circular on Friday.

Earlier, RBI had announced that the currency markets will remain closed on January 22.

On the same day, public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions and regional rural banks (RRBs) across the country will remain closed for half a day.

The Department of Personnel and Training has also issued an order to close central government establishments for half a day on January 22.
