A light fog blanketed Ayodhya on Monday, but visibility is expected to improve after 10 am as the temple town is set to become the center of India’s attention for the Pran Pratishtha or consecration ceremony of the Ram temple.

The weather department has predicted cold days in Ayodhya and the minimum temperature will be around 8-10 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures are likely to be around 15-17 degrees Celsius with very low speed surface winds (2-4 kmph), leading to cold. The weather is expected to remain dry due to no rain.

According to the IMD, visibility will increase to 1,200-1,500 meters after 10 am till sunset at 5:34 pm.

The IMD last week launched a dedicated webpage to provide meteorological information for Ayodhya and surrounding important areas. The webpage contains information on all weather parameters including temperature, rainfall, humidity and wind patterns in major languages spoken across the world, such as Hindi, English, Urdu, Chinese, French and Spanish.

Weather information for other important places including Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Lucknow and New Delhi is available on the webpage.

A weather bulletin containing seven-day forecast and sunrise and sunset times will also be available to users in both Hindi and English.

The much-awaited consecration ceremony at the Ram temple will be held in a grand ceremony with Prime Minister Narendra Modi participating in the rituals. The temple will be opened to the public after a day.

The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony will begin at 12:20 pm and is expected to end by 1 pm. The Prime Minister will then address a gathering of over 7,000 people, including saints and prominent personalities, at the venue.

On January 22, public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions and rural banks across the country will also remain closed for half a day. NSE and BSE have also announced trading holidays.

While the invitee list has over 7,000 people, the selected list includes 506 A-listers. Prominent invitees to the event include Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, business tycoons Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani and sports icon Sachin Tendulkar.
