Srinagar police said on Thursday that it has initiated legal action against online excitement and false information for peace and public system.
A police spokesperson said, it has come to the notice of reliable agencies that some unknown persons work in advancing a large enemy design, amidst the current growth in tension between India and Pakistan, wrong information and inflammatory materials are systematically broadcast on various social media platforms amidst the current growth in tension.
Preliminary findings indicate that these posts include fabricated statements, deformed facts and sensitive information related to the ongoing secret operation within the Indian region.
Unauthorized disclosure of such information is a serious threat to national security and fulfills strategic interests of hostile elements.
It seems deliberately designed to spread confusion, provoking fear and inciting unrest among the public.
Initial assessment suggests that the proliferation of such materials has already created concern within the classes of the civilian population and has the ability to disrupt the public order.
In view of the seriousness of the situation and its implications on the sovereignty of the nation, unity, integrity and security, the Srinagar police have taken cognizance of these incidents by identifying the accused persons, such as INT Hussain rather S/O Mohammad Ibrahim, rather R/O near R/O Shalina, S/O Farooq Ahmad Sheikh R/O Ichagam Budgam.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 14/2025 has been registered at PS Shergari under India 197 (1) (D), 353 (1) (B) and investigation has been initiated to catch the persons responsible for these illegal activities.
The general public is urged to be cautious and should avoid sharing unmatched information on social media. Any suspicious activity or material can be informed to the concerned authorities for quick action.
