War guns active: India targets Pak drone with Shilka, L -70

India has deployed a full spectrum of anti-drone and low-height air defense systems including S-400, L-70 anti-ai-circraft guns, and Soviet-origin Shilka units, as there was a wide inflammatory explosion with the border on Thursday evening with tension with Pakistan.

Build-up follows several cross-border drones and missile attacks, which consists of reported explosions in Jammu, Jaisalmer, and areas such as Samba, Tangdhar and Akhanur have heavy shells. To combat the danger, India’s layered air defense network has become active. After successful interception of eight missiles using the S-400 system, the army has now gone to deploy more strategic, close-ranges weapons that are highly effective against drone self-aborms and less-ravine UAVs than Pakistan.

L -70 Anti -AirCraft Gun

Originally developed by the Swedish Arms manufacturer Bofors and now produced under license in India, L-7 is a 40mm an anti-ai-aerft gun that is modernized with radar, electro-optical sensor and auto-tracking system. It can set fire 240 to 330 rounds per minute with a range of 4,000 meters. In the anti-drain warfare, it excels to saturate the sky with analoused fire, making it highly effective against flock attacks or drones.
Known popularly known by its Russian monkey “Shilka”, this self-operated system mounts four 23 mm autoocanon on a tracked chassis, capable of detecting the target 20 km by radar.

It can reach 4,000 rounds per minute and recently upgrade with proximity-fuse ammunition and advanced fire-control system to deal with small drones. Its rapid fire and radar precision make it fatal not only for the UAV but also for helicopters and even light armored vehicles.

Now with blackouts implemented in Srinagar, Uri, Baramulla, Jammu, and Amritsar, the Indian Army is clearly preparing for more complex air opportunities. Shilka’s ability to set fire to the round curtains now provides final-short security for air bases, convoys and sensitive installations under high threat levels.
