The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) Olympic Corps (MOC) at its 126th meeting approved the proposal of weightlifter Mirabai Chanu to train at La Ferte-Milon in Paris in preparation for the upcoming Olympics this year. Mira, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, will travel to Paris nearly a month before the Games to acclimate to the weather and prepare for the event. During the Paris training camp, Mirabai will be accompanied by two coaches and a physical therapist. Air tickets, visa fees, accommodation fees, meals, training fees, local transportation fees, medical insurance, sauna fees and other expenses will be borne by Target. Taiwan Program (TOPS) funding.

Apart from Meera, the horse racing committee also approved the proposal of equestrian Anush Agarwalla to participate in eight events and purchase equipment for his horses. TOPS will cover expenses such as accommodation for him and his trainer, entry fees, feed for both horses, trainer fees and groom fees.

The transport ministry also approved proposals for financial assistance to judoka Asmita Dey to compete in the Austrian Grand Prix and shooter Arjun Singh Cheema to compete in ISAS Dortmund Request for Financial Aid.

Meanwhile, emerging Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal’s request for financial assistance and support expenses for participating in two international tournaments has also been approved by the Ministry of Transport. Their air tickets, accommodation, coaching fees and physical therapy/fitness coach/psychological coach fees will also be covered by TOPS funding.

Other proposals approved by the MOC during the meeting included financial assistance for badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy to hire video analysts, extension of the contract of physiotherapist for weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga and financial assistance for track and field player Amoj Jacob to purchase equipment.
