Southern Railway: Here is the list of projects to be completed in the next two months

To promote Southern Railway, the authorities are pushing the boundaries, and have started making more efforts to start operations on some projects. As per details shared by TOI, SR general manager RN Singh has confirmed that the concerned department will complete the infrastructure work in the coming months.

While participating in the 75th Republic ceremony and hoisting the country’s national flag, Singh said the fourth line of Chennai Egmore-Beach is expected to be completed in March. It is also reported that the double lines from Nagercoil Town to Kanyakumari, Aralvaimozhi-Nagercoil Junction and Tirunelveli-Melapalayam have reached their final stages, and are expected to be completed by the end of this month.

TOI has also quoted him, where he said, “The section speed of the Arakkonam-Jolarpet section has been increased from 110 to 130 kmph, and the section speed of eight more sections has been increased to 110 kmph.” Additionally, he said, “We have planned 12 more sections for increased speed of 110 kmph, totaling 374 km.”

The project will be completed in March

Singh also shared information about the Jokate-Thokur line doubling work, saying it will reach the final stage or be completed in March. As far as the new lines of Chinnasalem-Kallakurichi and Karaikal-Peralam are concerned, it will take a few more months to be completed. For this, time has been given till June 2024.

Meanwhile, 216 route km (RKM) of Southern Railway was electrified last year, replacing most of the routes. Meanwhile, the Railways has electrified a total of 4,608 routes by the end of 2023.
